Home » Summer in the South Bay – Our Picks for Fun in the Sun in Manhattan Beach
Summer is finally here, and at Caskey & Caskey and Associates we think there’s no better place to enjoy the long days of summer than right here in our own backyard. We thought we’d take a moment to list some of our favorite activities to enjoy this summer in Manhattan Beach:
Live Music at Metlox
Every Sunday from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Metlox is hosting a different band in the plaza from 2:00pm – 4:00pm, the perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.
(Metlox is located at 451 Manhattan Beach Blvd in Manhattan Beach. See www.metloxmb.com for more details.)
Summer Concerts in the Plaza
On Thursdays and Saturdays through August 28, visit Manhattan Village to hear live music from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Bring beach chairs and stroll the shops, then sit and relax to the sounds of up-and-coming artists, many of whom have been featured on “The Voice”.
(Manhattan Village is located at 3200 North Sepulveda Blvd. See www.acousticspottalent for more details.)
International Surf Festival
From July 28 through August 1, the International Surf Festival will host its annual Dwight Crum Pier-to-Pier Swim, the infamous 6-Man and Junior 6-Man Volleyball Tournament, Surf Contests, Paddleboarding Contests, and a variety of other events. Taking place in both Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach, this festival and all that comes with it is an annual favorite for locals.
(See www.surffestival.org for more details.)
The Manhattan Beach Open Presented by the AVP
Manhattan Beach is home to one of the most iconic beach volleyball tournaments in history, the Manhattan Beach Open. What makes this tournament so unique is that it’s the only professional volleyball tournament in which amateurs can compete and place into the event through pre-qualifying rounds. This year’s tournament will take place at the MB Pier on August 20-22. Don’t miss this opportunity to watch your favorite players in action as they vie for the $250k grand prize!
(See www.avp.com for more details.)
The Roundhouse Aquarium
The Roundhouse Aquarium, located at the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier, is one of our favorite spots to visit - especially in the summertime. From the new Sand Sculpture Contest to Summer Science Beach Camps, there is something for everyone at this special place. Be sure to make a reservation to reserve your spot at www.roundhouseaquarium.org.
